Client Spotlight – Garage Plus Storage LLC

Garage Plus Storage LLC is one of the most unique storage facilities in the country!  It is a 20-acre storage facility located in Spanaway, Washington, south of Tacoma.  This is not your typical self-storage or mini storage type facility.  Instead, it’s a complex housing 224 over-sized garages.  Each garage comes complete with its own electrical and security system, and heated with in-floor radiant heating.  The ceilings are 22’ high, which allows the use of car lifts, if desired.  Some units also have lofts allowing for office or lounging space above the storage area.  The extra wide and tall doors make it easy to back in that RV, boat or other vehicle.  These garages ARE the ultimate Man Caves! 

In developing the project, the owners went through an extensive process with the county to gain an “active use” storage designation.  Almost all other storage facilities are simply passive storage.  At Garage Plus, you can actually work on projects in your garage just like you would in your home garage, only better, because it’s designed with the lighting, electrical and other systems to support that kind of work.  Many users have car lifts so they can more easily work on their project car, or simply store their prized possession with peace of mind.

While many users store and/or work on their cars at Garage Plus, you will find a wide variety of other uses, such as storing business inventory, hobbies of all types, boats, RV’s, motorcycles, and just about anything else you can imagine.  If you have a hobby or interest that just won’t fit in your home or garage at home, this is the place

There is also a show park and clubhouse on-site as well, with several flat screen TV’s, pool table, fire pits and meeting rooms if you want to just hang out, chase away the winter blues or enjoy the outdoor fun in the summer.  There’s even a car wash, too.

Welcome 2018!

January is over, meaning 2018 is officially under way! While 2017 was a wonderful year, thanks in large part to all of you, we are working at making 2018 our best year yet!

The new year means a new practice area. Justin completed his extensive training to become a mediator! Last year, he travelled to California where he received training from the nationally-recognized Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University. Following the completion of his training, Justin has been named to the mediation panels of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Washington and the King County Small Claims Court. Justin, a skilled problem-solver and a calming force in disputes, has extensive knowledge in many civil litigation practice areas, which comes in handy for resolving the parties’ issues during mediation. Over the years, Romero Park and our attorneys have been proud sponsors of and active participants for various companies and organizations. Our attorneys are participants in the CleanTech Alliance of Washington, wherein the Board seat “baton” was just passed to Justin from Troy for 2018. Justin has also been a three-time Chair of the Organizing Committee of the annual CleanTech Innovation Showcase, and a Board Member of the Seattle Chapter of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society and was named as Co-Chair of the organizing committee for their National Conference. Troy continues to be on the advisory board for the BYU Management Society San Diego Chapter. Craig is actively involved in Business Network International (BNI) and will be joining the Maple Valley/Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce as well. Chris is actively involved in his local community and has been hard at work helping to design and implement the first public parkour and pump track in San Diego. Additionally, both Troy and Chris participate in many of the events put on by Corporate Alliance of San Diego, of which Romero Park recently became an official sponsor!

This year Romero Park has decided to put greater focus on giving back to the community and the people that have given so much to us. Our goal is to gather items for those in need by holding events such as a back-to-school supply drive and a blanket drive for the homeless. With plenty of fun things happening in our office, we are proud to help facilitate our clients’ and colleagues’ involvement, as well. We look forward to sharing many events with you throughout the year!

Romero Park Secures Verdict for Client

The King County Superior Court in the case of Carey et al. v. Bumstead et al. issued a decision in favor of the Defendants, Matt and Kristie Bumstead and their company, Clarity Capital, on September 5, 2017.  Carey and Bumstead’s dispute was over the proper way to divide up assets in a joint venture they had operated since 2009. Carey had been seeking over $600,000 from the Defendants.  Citing evidence spelled out by our own Justin Park, who represented the Bumsteads, the Court issued a decision in favor of the Bumsteads, dismissing with prejudice Carey’s claims, and directed a money judgment be entered in the Bumsteads’ favor.

Said Park, “We are extremely satisfied with the judge’s decision.  We have always felt that the legal analysis and evidence in the matter justified a decision in favor of the Bumsteads. Now we are glad to see the Court agrees with that position.”

Firm Celebrates 15th Anniversary of San Diego Office

Romero Park recently celebrated its 15th anniversary of the opening of its Southern California office. “We are so grateful for the outpouring of support we have received since we opened our office fifteen years ago,” said the firm’s president Troy Romero, “California litigation and business transactions now account for over 40% of the firm’ s business.” Not only did expanding our firm to San Diego allow us to increase our business, it allowed us to add new members to our team, such as Chris Powell, and add new connections to our lives through groups such as Corporate Alliance.
